Privacy policy

This policy explains what we do with the information you give us when you prepare a document photo on passportphotoonline.org. We collect only what the service needs, we do not sell personal data, and we do not use your photos to advertise to you.

What we collect

  • Photos you upload and the document photos we produce from them.
  • Facial measurements derived from those photos: where the eyes, chin and top of the head are, whether the expression is neutral, whether glasses, a hat or a shadow are present, and how evenly the background is lit.
  • Account details if you create an account: your name and email address.
  • Payment records for paid features. Card details are entered on the payment provider's form; we never see or store the full card number.
  • Technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit, used to run and protect the site.

How the photos and facial measurements are used

The facial measurements exist only to check your photo against the rules of the document you chose: head size and position, background, expression and visible obstructions. They are not used to identify you, are not combined with other data about you, and are not shared with anyone for their own purposes.

Photos are processed and stored by cloud infrastructure and image-processing providers acting on our behalf, under confidentiality obligations. If you order premium processing, a member of our team looks at the photo to review it.

How long we keep data

Photos and the measurements derived from them stay in your account until you delete them or close the account. Deleting a photo, or the whole account, permanently removes the related photos and measurements. Account and payment records are kept while the account is open and afterwards only as long as the law or the resolution of a dispute requires.

Security

Access to photos is limited to the systems and staff that need it to deliver the service, and data is encrypted in transit. No system is perfectly secure, but we treat facial data as sensitive and protect it accordingly.

Cookies

We use cookies that keep you signed in and remember the document you selected. We do not use advertising cookies.

Your rights

  • See the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct data that is wrong.
  • Delete your photos, facial measurements and account.
  • Stop receiving non-essential emails.
